Video Transcript: Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association
Since its founding in 1991, CPVA has been at the forefront to create some of the most significant achievements for the Veterans community. Including the creation of the Veterans Ombuds Office itself, the creation of the Veterans Bill of Rights and the creation of the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal.
We pushed hard for these. We advocated, we worked with government, with Veterans Affairs Canada, with the politicians of the time. And we made all of these come together.
We have chapters across the country. The members of these chapters get together to have social events. Some chapters run a lending library of medical equipment and furniture for their communities. Others do neighborhood cleanups. In Edmonton, they help with the poppy sales each year. We work to try to bring people together and help out in whatever small way we can.
To our members of CPVA nationally, I want you all to know that you've helped. You've made a difference. You've had an impact on the Veterans’ community. And your impact on change is ongoing. And will keep going forward with your help. Thank you.
