Spouses Supporting Transition: Are you the spouse of a medically-released Veteran?

August 7, 2018 - Ottawa, ON

My team is getting ready to conduct a qualitative study on spouses supporting transition and we would like to hear your story!

What’s your story?

If you are the spouse of a Canadian Veteran who medically-released between 2006 and 2016 and who you feel has successfully transitioned, we want to hear from you!

The transition process may have been difficult or easy, taken years or no time at all, but if you now feel that your spouse is well-integrated into civilian life, we want to learn how you got there.

We are looking for any individual who is, or was, a spouse of a Regular or Reserve Force member, both before and after that member’s medical release.

If you would like more information on our study, please consult our Spouses Supporting Transition Fact Sheet.  If you would like to participate in this study, please e-mail us directly by August 24th, 2018, at ovo.communication.bov@canada.ca.  Our researchers will be in touch within three working days. Your participation is completely voluntary, and if you do participate, please rest assured that your identity will remain confidential.

Our Goal

Last year’s Transitioning Successfully: A Qualitative Study highlighted the finding that spouses were noted as the greatest source of support for transitioning members. This project will delve deeper into this finding and explore the lived experience of spouses of Veterans who have medically-released between 2006 and 2016 and who have successfully transitioned.  This follow-up work will provide the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman with greater insight into the unique and shared experiences of those who support Veterans and their families during transition.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
