Veterans Ombud in Calgary to meet with the Veterans Community

Ottawa ON
Canada

OCTOBER 20, 2023, OTTAWA, ON – Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine will be in Calgary the week of October 23 to meet with the Veterans community. The visit includes a town hall in Calgary on Tuesday, October 24th, as well as meetings with a broad range of stakeholders.

The town hall will provide an opportunity for the Veterans Ombud to hear the concerns of the Veterans community, and to share information on the work of the Office of the Veterans Ombud (OVO), as well as its priorities for the future. Veterans and serving Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and RCMP members, survivors' families and friends are invited to attend the town halls.

"I always look forward to meeting with Veterans in Western Canada and across the country. I want to hear directly from Veterans and serving CAF and RCMP members and their families about their experiences and challenges with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) as they seek to access available programs and benefits. These town halls are essential to my role as the Veterans Ombud and a great opportunity to connect with the Veteran community we serve."

The OVO reviews complaints and challenges the policies and decisions of VAC where it finds individual or systemic unfairness. We strive to be an independent and respected voice for fairness and a champion for the well-being of Veterans and their families.

If you are a serving CAF member, RCMP member, Veteran, family member or representative and you feel you have been treated unfairly by VAC, or you would like information about programs and services, the OVO is here to help.
