June 17, 2025, Ottawa, ON - Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine is pleased to announce that today the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Jill McKnight tabled the 2024-2025 Annual Report of the Office of the Veterans Ombud (OVO) in the House of Commons.
The report covers the systemic work and outreach initiatives undertaken by the OVO during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, and includes a summary of complaint trends. Most importantly, the report reiterates specific recommendations made by the Veterans Ombud, and features cases where Veterans or their families raised an issue of unfairness relating to Veterans Affairs Canada’s programs and/or services.
"I am pleased to present the OVO 2024-2025 Annual Report to the Veteran community. It has been a very busy year for our office, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished. From the calls we receive to the conversations I’ve had with Veterans and their families all across this country, a common trend emerges: the Veteran community continues to face challenges when applying to or accessing benefits and services from Veterans Affairs Canada. At the OVO, we continue to work hard in our pursuit of fairness for all Veterans and their families."
