Brigitte Laverdure, retired AirFrame Technician, was born in Magog, QC, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980. Early in her military career she was transferred to Summerside, Prince Edward Island, where she served for 7 years. During that time, she received a certificate of professionalism for detecting a very critical anomaly on a specific device.
In 1988, she transferred to Bagotville in the same capacity and also became an Air Cadet instructor. After 19 years of loyal service, an accident in 1999 caused her to leave the Canadian Armed Forces.
Since 2011, she and her spouse Regent, also a Veteran, have been helping veterans to obtain benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).
In 2020, Brigitte received a Commendation from the Veterans Ombudsman for her involvement in having the rights of gay veterans and the LGBTQ2 groups recognized. She intervened at a good time, as many veterans were in need of this type of support. Many have received, and continue to receive advice and support. In their spare time, Brigitte and Regent take the opportunity to travel, ride motorcycles, and fish.
