Veterans Ombudsman to Hold a Public Meeting with Veterans in Mascouche

Canada's Veterans Ombudsman, Guy Parent, will host a town hall session in Ottawa for Veterans, RCMP members, military members, families and other interested parties. These meetings are opportunities for the Veterans Ombudsman to meet with Veterans, talk about what the Office is doing on their behalf and answer questions about the Office and issues of importance to the Veterans community. Mr. Parent will deliver a short presentation, followed by a question and answer period with the audience.

On April 4, 2013 the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman will release a report entitled Improving the New Veterans Charter: The Parliamentary Review. This report officially launches the Office’s initiative on the upcoming parliamentary review of the New Veterans Charter.
The report will be available online at www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca as of 9:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, April 4, 2013.
On February 4, 2013 the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman will release a report entitled Veterans’ Right to Disclosure: A Matter of Procedural Fairness. This report examines the procedures used by Veterans Affairs Canada to retrieve and process service and health records to prepare disability benefit applications for adjudication.

On December 11, 2012 the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman will release a report entitled Honouring and Connecting with Canada’s Veterans: A National Veterans Identification Card. This report examines the benefits and feasibility of a national Veterans identification card and recommends changing the current definition of the term veteran for commemorative purposes.
